It is with great sadness that we must announce the closing of Pittsburgh Beer Society. We have thought long and hard about the life of the organization, especially it's existence over the past year and the many attempts to keep the organization running. It is within our best interest as a group to discontinue our endeavors and dissolve the group at this time.
We have come to this conclusion based on a number of factors. Our ability to operate and maintain the organization at the level at which it was originally conceived has disappeared. Our focus from the beginning was to share and spread the knowledge of the brewing industry with our members. At this time, with our present and participating infrastructure, we are also extremely limited in finding people who are willing and able to dedicate the time needed to continue the organization with this vision in mind.
As you can imagine, it takes a great deal of personal sacrifice and knowledge of the brewing industry to pull off this task monthly. We simply do not have enough people involved who understand the beer market in Western PA who also have unlimited extra time in their busy schedules to run and operate the PBS the way we envisioned the organization at its inception.
We will continue to keep in touch with everyone and see opportunities for future events, reunions, and random drink nights at D's. We have already discussed the possibility of a get together once more pleasant weather returns to Western PA and we'd love if you would join us. If you haven't joined our mailing list and are interested in future events, please click the members link and sign-up today. We will let you know of developments as they unfold.
This group was a random idea concocted one night while discussing beers with friends. We hoped, but never expected, that we could grow the idea into what we know today. Everything that the PBS accomplished, small and large, still blows our minds. From the friendships forged to the special opportunities given to us by the breweries. You should all be proud to have been part of this organization.
Cheers to every single one of you,
The Pittsburgh Beer Society
